User Classification

As part of the SaaS connector scan, SaaSDR identifies users as:

 - Internal: These are mainly the employees of your organization that have an account on the SaaS application.

 - External: These are mainly the users outside your organization with whom data is shared.

Internal or External users are classified in the following manner on each connector.

- Microsoft Office 365 and Google G Suite: The email address of the scan user is used to determine the domain of the organization. Any user whose email address is in the same domain is considered as an Internal user and the others are considered External users.

For example, if the user who scans the connector has the email address admin@companyx.com, then “company.com” defines the domain, and all users with the email address user@companyx.com are Internal users and others are External users.  

- Salesforce: While scanning the Salesforce connector, we classify the users based on the “User Type” and “User Definition” metadata. In addition to Internal and External, the metadata also provides further user classification (System and Guest). The following table provides more details on user classification.
